BUSINESS SITUATION

A leading UK-based research and advisory firm required assistance in updating its list of investments and acquisitions in the IoT space. A relevant tracker, developed by the company, was shared with SGA to be updated (and modified as needed) on a half-yearly basis. For this, SGA assigned a set of dedicated analysts, who work in close collaboration with the client company’s AI & IoT team. 

SGA STRATEGIC APPROACH

  • The SGA team collected information on IoT investments through secondary research, including operators’ press releases, X (previously Twitter) feeds, vendor websites, and third-party news portals. All publicly announced deals were documented in an Excel file. ​
  • The announcements were organized into distinct categories, enabling a tailored view of key market aspects. Development summaries could be filtered by country, type of investing company, technologies, specific vertical, customer industry vertical, and year/quarter.​

ENGAGEMENT

The client conducted the research for the IoT Investment Tracker and shared the file with SGA’s analyst. The analyst reviewed the file for errors, updated graphs, and added missing important announcements, if any. The updated tracker was then shared with the client for approval before being published on the client’s portal.

BENEFITS & OUTCOME

The tracker provided an updated list of investments and acquisitions in the IoT space by companies in the technology, telco, and consumer electronics industries.​
